Clean Air Asia
https://cleanairasia.orgClean Air Asia is an international non-governmental organization leading the regional mission for better air quality, and healthier, more livable cities throughout Asia. Its mission is to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in Asia and contribute to the development of a more sustainable, equitable and healthier region. Clean Air Asia empowers governments and cities by inspiring action and focusing efforts on the planning and implementation of solutions at scale, fostering regional cooperation to address issues of mutual concern, and ensuring the integration of air quality management across sectors and institutions. The organization’s work focuses on implementing solutions that reduce air pollution, its detrimental health impacts and mitigate the climate crisis. This is achieved by providing policy guidance, building capacity, and making a compelling case for action among stakeholders at city, national, and regional levels. Since 2008, Clean Air Asia has been a United Nations-recognized partnership comprised of more than 250 organizations in Asia and internationally, with Country Networks across the region (Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Vietnam). Its headquarters are in Manila, Philippines, with offices in Beijing, China, New Delhi, India, and an office being established in Indonesia.
Clean Air Asia addresses city and national-level air quality and climate change challenges in relevant sectors, including energy and transport, with Clean Air and Climate Action Plans playing a critical role in achieving its goals. The organization’s work highlights, emphasizes, and points to solutions by building capacity, conducting policy research, advocating for effective and appropriate policies and practices, and empowering stakeholders to mitigate air pollution and climate change impacts. Clean Air Asia produces high-quality, evidence-based knowledge products that support the scaling up of the implementation of best practice solutions and innovative policies/practices. Clean Air Asia builds consensus among stakeholders on solutions through our events, including the Better Air Quality (BAQ) conferences. Consensus-building underpins Clean Air Asia’s work in the region, including facilitating coordination among stakeholders towards action, strengthening governance through recommendations for practical reforms, capacity building, resource mobilization, and bringing communities together for change.
