This publication describes the process by which a training forum became the catalyst for Sri Lankan government, industry, and environmental professionals to develop and begin implementing an action plan for urban air quality management. It highlights those aspects of the Sri Lank air quality management experience that provide a model for developing countries to tackle urban air pollution problems. This model affords opportunities to initiate action quickly, at low cost, and provides a flexible framework for future refinements and necessary investments.
