2025 Meeting and Workshop for the Thematic Working Group on Air Quality and Health (TWG-AQH) of the Asia Pacific Regional Forum on Health and the Environment (APRFHE)
This meeting will be held in Seoul from 5 to 6 November 2025 and co-organized by the National Institute of Environmental Research NIER, Republic of Korea -the Co-Chair of the Thematic Working Group on Air Quality and Health (the WHO Asia-Pacific Centre for Environment and Health in the Western Pacific Region (WHO ACE), and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. It will be attended by the Participating countries, government officials involved in environmental and health management, researchers and practitioners specializing in air quality and public health, APRFHE international secretariat (WHO ACE and UNEP).
The objectives of the meeting and workshop are to share recent developments and progress among TWG-AQH members and international organizations on advancing air quality and health, discuss a
workplan for 2026; to facilitate exchange of knowledge and best practices in reducing air pollution and its health impact in the country context and across the region and to build capacities for health impact assessment on exposure to air pollution based on country and international experiences and to discuss opportunities for cooperation.
The outcomes of the meeting will contribute to the implementation of the Jakarta Declaration of Cooperation on Health and Environment adopted at the fifth Ministerial Conference of the Asia Pacific Regional Forum on Health and Environment (24-26 September 2024) and the Updated Road map for an enhanced global response to the adverse health effects of air pollution adopted by 78th World Health Assembly in May 2025, in particular its target to cut deaths attributed to poor air quality by 50% by 2040.
