JICA launched the "JICA Clean City Initiative (JCCI)" in 2021 to support policy development and infrastructure improvement in the fields of environmental management and climate change in developing regions. Aiming to realize "clean cities" for 500 million residents across 50 countries by 2030, JICA is promoting cooperation through collaboration with industry, government, academia, citizens and development partners.
The 5th JCCI International Seminar in 2026 will take place five years until 2030, the target year for the SDGs. The theme will be "Co-creation and Innovation for Circular Economy and Resilient Cities." The seminar will provide an interim overview of JCCI's achievements and focus on key issues such as the circular economy, climate change, and urban environmental management. It will deepen discussions toward realizing a sustainable society and promote new partnerships and innovation among industry, government, academia, and the public. There will be time for a networking event following the seminar.
